Therapy that looks beneath the surface

Therapy that looks beneath
the surface

You may be here for yourself, or for someone you care about. Perhaps you have been struggling with the same patterns, trying different ways to cope or make things better, yet nothing seems to change in a lasting way.

Whatever brings you here, seeking professional support is a meaningful step. It reflects a willingness to pause, look more closely at your experience, and consider that change is possible, even if it may not feel that way right now. In my work, I have seen how often people arrive feeling uncertain or discouraged, yet gradually begin to understand themselves more clearly and find new ways of relating to themselves and others.

For this reason, I often hold hope for my clients, especially when they are not yet able to hold it for themselves.

About Huong Tran (Victoria)

Huong Tran, MSMFT
Marriage and Family Therapist

I am a California-trained Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and organizations in both the United States and Vietnam. I began my career in Los Angeles, working on a multidisciplinary mental health team serving children and families, and since 2017 have maintained a private practice in Vietnam. In addition to therapy, I collaborate with international schools, companies, and embassies to provide training on communication, relational dynamics, and emotional well-being. My work is grounded in a systemic perspective, recognizing that many individual challenges are rooted in relational contexts.

My approach to therapy focuses on helping clients understand what lies beneath the surface of their experience. Many difficulties develop over time, and meaningful change begins by slowing down to explore thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns. I draw on well-established approaches such as CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Restoration Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to support this process. Rather than offering quick solutions, therapy creates space to better understand one’s reactions, needs, and the dynamics one is part of. At times the work is practical, focusing on communication and behavior, and at other times it involves deeper reflection on identity and relational roles.
